Reopening FAQs
Friends Meeting House reopened on Monday 14th September for business meetings and training events for up to 30 people. We understand people’s concerns regarding meeting up. Therefore we have some strict guidelines in place to ensure precautions are taken and visitors feel both safe and welcome.
Are you implementing Track and Trace?
In line with government regulations we are insisting all event organisers implement a track and trace system.
What happens if I develop symptoms of COVID-19 during or after my visit?
If you develop symptoms of COVID-19 at any time, it is imperative that you follow government guidelines. Please make staff aware and leave the venue. If you take a COVID-19 test and the result is positive, please try and contact Friends’ Meeting House on 0161 834 5797.
What is Friends’ Meeting House doing to ensure social distancing and safety?
Our priority during this time is the safety of all those who use our venue. Our staff team have been working carefully to make the necessary and numerous changes to the workings of our building:
- Employing the use of new physical distancing where all layouts have been measured to include 1.50m – 2m distancing within all rooms.
- Implemented a one-way system throughout the building.
- Making use of our new sanitising points around the building by encouraging all staff and visitors to wash and sanitise their hands regularly during their visit
- Encouraging the use of track and trace applications and procedures
- Discouraging visitors from eating inside the building, in order to reduce the spread of germs
- Discouraging anybody waiting in the communal areas of the building.
- Encouraging all staff and delegates to keep noise to a minimum to help keep voices down.
Are face coverings mandatory?
Yes, to help protect everyone we are insisting all visitors wear face coverings in the communal areas unless exempt.
Will you be providing PPE to staff?
Yes, all staff will be provided with a mask and be asked to use this when moving around the communal spaces.
Will toilets and baby-changing facilities be accessible?
Toilets and baby change will be accessible to ensure physical distancing we will be limiting the number of people in the toilets at any one time.
The National Tourist Organisation of Britain and Northern Ireland have confirmed we have followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, ensuring processes are in
place to maintain cleanliness and aid physical distancing.
HOW TO FIND US
We are centrally located and nestled among some of Manchester’s most iconic landmarks – The Town Hall, St Peter’s Square and Central Library
- We are located directly behind the distinct Central Library building
- We are a short walk from Oxford Road Station and one minute walk from St Peter’s Square tram stop
GETTING HERE BY TRAM
Our nearest stop is St. Peter’s Square, which is a one minute walk away from our front door. From Manchester Piccadilly take any tram heading to either: Altrincham, Didsbury, Eccles or Media City and alight at St. Peter’s Square. Only two stops away.
GETTING HERE BY TRAIN
We are within walking distance of all the city centre railway stations, approximate walking distances: Manchester Piccadilly – 20 min Manchester Victoria – 15 min Manchester Oxford Rd – 10 min Salford Central – 15 min Deansgate – 10 min
GETTING HERE BY BUS
Several bus routes stop near the Meeting House, including the Metroshuttle, which is a free bus service linking the main rail stations, car parks, shopping areas and businesses in Manchester city centre. The nearest Metroshuttle bus stop is Peter Street. Find out more at www.tfgm.com. Other bus services stop at Piccadilly Gardens, which is approximately 10 minutes’ walk from the Meeting House.
FINDING US FROM ST PETER'S TRAM STOP
- Once off the tram at St Peter’s tram stop look for the Central Library building and head towards it
- When facing the library there is a entrance area to the right of the building. Go through the door and head towards the alley at the other side
- You will find our Meeting House at the end of the alley across the road

THE TECHNICAL DETAILS….
